About
A proper rent receipt pack, without the stationery shop
Every proof-submission season, HR teams hand back rent receipts for the same avoidable reasons: missing month references, amounts written only in figures, no landlord signature space, or cash receipts above ₹5,000 without the conventional ₹1 revenue stamp. This generator produces receipts in the standard format Indian employers expect — figures plus words in both English and Hindi, the premises address, the specific month being paid for, payment mode, landlord PAN when relevant, and clear signature lines for tenant and landlord.
The bulk mode is where the real time goes. Pick a from-month and to-month and the tool expands the range into individually numbered receipts (RR-001, RR-002…) with a pack summary page on top, so a full year prints as one tidy stack. If you pay by cash and the rent crosses ₹5,000 a month, every sheet carries a marked box where the ₹1 revenue stamp should be affixed and signed; if annual rent crosses ₹1,00,000, you are reminded that the landlord's PAN becomes mandatory for the claim.
Like everything on TaxDoc India, the whole thing is computed locally in your browser. Your landlord's name, your address and your rent figure never touch a server — they live in your browser's local storage until you clear them, and printing happens straight from your device.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is a printed rent receipt valid for HRA claims?
Yes. Employers and the income-tax department accept printed or typed receipts as long as they carry the correct month, rent amount, property address and the landlord's signature. That is why every receipt this tool generates includes dedicated signature lines for both parties.
When is the ₹1 revenue stamp required on a rent receipt?
By long-standing convention under Indian stamp practice, cash payments of rent above ₹5,000 per month should be acknowledged with a ₹1 revenue stamp affixed to the receipt and signed across by the landlord. The tool detects this automatically — if your payment mode is Cash and rent exceeds ₹5,000, each receipt gets a clearly marked revenue-stamp box.
Why does my employer ask for the landlord's PAN?
If your total annual rent exceeds ₹1,00,000, you must declare your landlord's PAN to your employer so it can be reported to the income-tax department. The tool warns you prominently as soon as monthly rent × 12 crosses ₹1,00,000, and gives you a field to record the PAN on every receipt.
Do I still need receipts if I pay rent by UPI or bank transfer?
Yes. A bank trail proves payment but not the purpose or the period, so most employers still ask for signed receipts. Digital payments have one advantage — no revenue stamp is needed, since that convention applies only to cash above ₹5,000 per month.
Can I generate all 12 months' receipts at once?
Yes. Switch the period selector to 'Month range', pick January to December, and the tool builds a numbered pack — RR-001 through RR-012 — with a summary cover page. One click prints or saves the entire pack as a single PDF.
Why does the receipt show the amount in words twice, in English and Hindi?
Many employers and clerks in Hindi-speaking regions prefer verifying amounts in Devanagari. Printing both versions ('Twelve Thousand Five Hundred Rupees Only' and 'बारह हज़ार पाँच सौ रुपये मात्र') removes ambiguity and speeds up verification at submission time.
Does this generator store or upload my details anywhere?
No. Everything runs inside your browser — there is no server and nothing is uploaded. Your entries are saved only in your own browser's local storage so the form remembers them next visit; clearing site data or pressing Reset erases them completely.
What if my landlord refuses to sign the receipts?
Without the landlord's signature a receipt has little value for an HRA claim, so raise it early and explain that PAN reporting is a normal tax formality. Never fabricate receipts — claiming HRA for rent you did not pay is tax fraud, and the department matches claims against landlord income declarations.
